Detroit DTW car rental rules: age, debit, deposit and pickup

Detroit’s rental-car campus is along Lucas Drive. Courtesy shuttles depart from the Ground Transportation Centers serving the McNamara and Evans terminals.

1. After baggage claim, follow Ground Transportation signs.
2. At McNamara, use the Ground Transportation Center in the terminal parking garage; at Evans, use the Big Blue Deck’s Ground Transportation Center.
3. Board your agency’s rental-car shuttle; off-airport agency shuttles may use separate signed stops.

Match the branch on your reservation to this airport service. Pickup counter hours, vehicle-return hours and after-hours collection are separate conditions.

In Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport's own words (quoted verbatim from the airport's rental-car page; your rental company's return instructions on the reservation still apply):

• “Drive to the rental car facility lots, located at the Northeast corner of the airport along Lucas Drive, and find your rental car agency.”

• “Once you have handed over the keys, a shuttle bus will take you directly to your terminal's Ground Transportation Center.”

• “If you rented from an off-airport rental car agency, drop off will be at the same location you picked up your rental.”

1. Confirm the exact collection branch, arrival terminal and pickup time on your reservation.
2. Match your own physical card, age, vehicle and return itinerary to that branch's rules.
3. Bring the original licence and the required passport, IDP or translation. Keep enough available funds for charges still due and the applicable authorization.
