How our eligibility checks work

We prefer the exact supplier branch page, followed by the supplier’s national policy, written official support, applicable law, and then secondary sources for discovery only.

A branch rule overrides a general national rule when its scope is clear. Missing critical evidence produces Unknown; contradictory official sources produce a separate Conflict state rather than a positive claim.

The current form considers pickup country and airport, pickup date, renter age and residence, licence country, alphabet and held duration, IDP availability, payment and physical/virtual card form, cardholder, return itinerary, vehicle category, booking channel, rental duration, estimated rental total, available card funds, cross-border or interstate travel, ferry use, and an additional driver.

We calculate a dollar estimate only when an official source publishes a usable amount for the selected branch and scenario. “Estimated card room” combines the entered rental total with a published extra deposit when the policy supports that calculation.

General guidance is labeled as an estimate because the selected rate, vehicle, insurance, rental length, branch discretion, bank and incidentals can change the final authorization. If the amount cannot be supported, the checker says “Not published.”

Each result links to its source, checked date and review deadline. Once evidence passes that deadline, any otherwise positive result automatically downgrades to Unknown and its hold confidence is withdrawn until rechecked. Future travel beyond the deadline also receives an advance warning.

The “Why this result” trace shows the evidence, identity, payment, documents, travel and funds checks that produced each final state.

Editorial review is led by Feroz Sheikh. Supplier counter decisions and the signed rental agreement always remain final.

Software helps structure dated policy facts, compare trip inputs, calculate only supported hold formulas, and flag stale or contradictory evidence. Automated tooling does not fill missing supplier terms or choose between conflicting official sources.

Source selection, evidence classification, rule publication, and corrections remain subject to editorial review. Every public result exposes its evidence state and review date so the reasoning can be checked.
